Young, Rich and Free is a band with a goal to give today's youth a positive alternative to the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll scene. Through hard rock to acoustic pop/rock, YRF's two lead vocalists harmonize to guitar-driven melodies, eclectic arrangements and original songs with commercial sensibility and cross-over potential.

YRF was formed at the turn of the century in Prince George, BC when successful businessman and father of five Sean Hogan, just learning to play the guitar, invited preacher's kid Taiho Krahn, pianist turned bassist and backslider turned born again, to join him in accompanying the church choir for the Sunday morning service. Their singing voices seemed to blend perfectly together and the synergy created started them thinking about more.

Sean, a natural songbird, had always dreamed of playing in a band but Tai had let go his dream of being a secular rock star years before. Sean’s patient prodding soon rekindled a new dream in Tai, helping him remember an older, childhood dream of being a Christian rock star.

Meanwhile, drummer Brendan Harrop, the youngest and best looking member of the band, was going through the challenges of the party scene and, through the encouragement of his brother-in-law, Sean, turned to the drums as a tool for spiritual rebirth. Brendan’s teachability, hard work and rock solidness earned him instant respect from his bandmates and YRF was born.

With Sean writing the lyrics (except for some songs with words straight out of the Bible) and Tai the music, excitement built as their repertoire increased and they began to find their sound. Sensing they still weren’t complete, Tai called up an old friend, Michael Trepanier, guitarist extraordinaire raised on Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Keeping a promise made to his father never to do drugs if he’d buy him a guitar, Mike spent over 10,000 hours on his guitar since age fifteen. Bringing an edge to their sound and long hair to their look, Mike has added the fourth dimension that is quickly propelling YRF to superstardom.
